“This radically-different soothing renewal treatment is bursting with formidable anti-inflammatory phytonutrient infusion, collagen-fostering vitamin C ester, high-content of antioxidants and replenishing essential fatty-acids to lower oxidation damage in stressed tissue, allowing the skin to be hydrated, nourished and youthful.”
Kristina here – I Am Natural Store’s social media, PR and product tester extraordinaire.
I’ve had so many requests to chat more about the Mahalo Skincare Rare Indigo Balm, so I thought I’d dish out the inside scoop on this little enchantress which just so happens to be one of my favourite skin saviours right now.
Could the packaging be any cooler? Encased in a bamboo vessel, and lovingly made in tropical Kauai, Hawaii, each tub of tantalising violet indigo contains 30 ml of healing powers to thoroughly indulge and pamper the skin and spirit.
There was a line once in the best movie of all time – Under The Tuscan Sun – where Diane Lane is writing a postcard and describes grapes in the market as ‘smelling of purple’. When I first took a sniff of this magical potion, that’s the exact phrase that came to mind: it smells like purple! And what does purple exactly smell like? A luxurious blend of aromatherapy oils that’s crisp yet sweet, with floral undercurrents of rose, ylang ylang, chamomile and iris.
Soft, creamy and melt-worthy, the balm envelops the skin tenderly, kissing it softly, anointing it lovingly. The application process is a ritual, more so than a grooming step.
There is a slight oily residue that remains, which eventually fades as the dermal layers drink up the opulent ointment, but I’m happy to report that it doesn’t weigh down the skin nor clog the pores. In fact, the fluid, light consistency makes it fantastic for thirsty complexions and even better if you want to perform a youth-boosting facial massage on yourself.
Only a teensy bit of balm is needed to restore lacklustre layers and a little goes a long way.
Specifically formulated with Hawaiian botanicals like hemp, marula, indigo, rose otto, lavender and more, to calm and renew the skin, this balm does it all. It might even do the dishes if you ask nicely. It was created to give skin optimum hydration and heal acne, eczema, rosacea, dermatitis, as well as fade age spots, smooth out wrinkles and reduce puffiness. After continued use, I have to say that while I don’t see a dramatic change in fine lines, I have noticed my skin has been less inflamed and less prone to cranky breakouts. I’m in my late 20s so anything that provides relief from the aforementioned concerns is a surefire superstar in my eyes.
Lately, I’ve been learning all about chakra healing and clearing energy blockages, so I like to apply some on my third eye – specifically in the middle of my eyebrows, under the nose, the temples and a little on my neck, to nurture and nourish me as I sleep.
In the morning, after jumping out of the shower, I like to slather the balm all over my skin from my face to my neck to my chest. Sometimes I’ll even apply a little to my hands to keep them smelling bewitchingly beautiful, and I love how soft and supple they feel too. I repeat these steps at night too, to send me off into a peaceful slumber.
A swipe on the lips similarly has its benefits, keeping my pout lush and kissable. Because it’s made from safe, healthy, natural, raw, organic and practically edible ingredients, it makes for the perfect multi-tasker from top to toe.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner. This ticks all the boxes for me because it’s multi-purpose, and such a delicious part of my daily skin prep routine. From the healing, anti-inflammatory properties to the enchanting look, feel and intoxicating therapeutic aroma, I’m a convert.
The best part is that there’s enough to last you months and months, so the investment value makes it totally worth it.
It’s a must-try for organic loving beauty buffs, Divine Goddesses or anyone looking to cure serious skin irritations with the healing powers of Hawaiian Rare Indigo.
